Maramures Region

One of the most visited region in Romania is Maramures. It is attractive to the tourists because the popular traditions are still alive in this part of the country and the religious events are really special here. The region is situatted in a valley enclosed by mountains. The area is forested, and pretty inaccessible. The main attractions here are: Merry Cemetery from Sapanta, Borsa Ski Slope and Mogosa Ski Slope.

The Merry Cemetry "is famous for its colourful tombstones with native paintings describing, in a an original and poetic manner, the persons that are buried there as well as scenes from their lives."
