Pictures of (some) Romanian Roads

For the tourists that intend to come to Romania for the first time I think some pictures of romanian roads might be interesting:

Valcea - Sibiu (Pitesti - Sibiu)

Prahova Valley (Ploiesti - Bran)

Oradea --- Cluj-Napoca

Huedin (Oradea, Bors) --- Cluj-Napoca

Cluj-Napoca --- Alba-Iulia

Sibiu - 2007 European Capital of Culture

In 2007 it is Sibiu's turn to be the European Capital of Culture. IQads.ro has created a short clip for this event:

"Sibiu - City of Culture - City of Cultures"

Brasov Presentation Movie

This clip will ilustrate with images the story about Brasov I have written in one of my first posts on this blog.

You can enjoy the general view of the city from Tampa Mountain, or the images of the old Fortress of Brasov, the historical center, The Black Church and the downtown.

Bran Castle Photos, Images (Dracula's Castle)

Although Bran Castle does not have anything to do with Vlad Tepes (known as Count Dracula), the Bran Castle is known as Dracula's Castle and many people travel to Bran hoping to find a piece of Dracula there :).

I've been to Bran last week and I am publishing for you some photos from the castle. Enjoy!

Rustic Romania

Images of Romania (Bucharest, Peles Castle, Dracula's Castle, Merry Cimitry from Sapanta, Brasov...). The movie is nice but I think they choose the wrong music.

Ethnographic Museum

Romania - Map - Maps (physical map, main roads, border crossing points, railway network, historical regions, Bucharest map, detailed road map)

I have found this interesting website about Romania. It belongs to the "The Romanian National Tourist Office". They have a lot of maps (physical map, main roads, border crossing points, railway network, historical regions, Bucharest map, detailed road map). I hope it helps you.

The address for the maps: http://www.romaniatourism.com/maps.html

Danube Delta Images

Images from Danube Delta shooted from a boat. Very nice pelicans, the sound of wind and the Danube's waves...

A world without Romania

Another aproach... another way to present Romania, romanian inventions and some romanian personalies.

Masanobu Ando in Maramures

A impressive movie about an Asian that tavelled and lived for a few days in Maramures. Very nice images, shooted in a very traditional village from Maramures Region.

Romania - Simply Surprising

The second movie about Romania I have found on YouTube:

This one is a little bit older but it is more complex and it covers more touristic objectives.

Bucharest (Bucuresti)

Bucharest… an old, dusty and historic city. It is the capital of Romania. Whoever arrives here, for the first time, could feel its mystery.

Firstly, one will notice its grey color (that is because of the houses most of them painted in grey)… but once he has the courage to take one more step, another world seems to reveal in front of his eyes – a place of friendship, music, light and magic.

The entire city is old – lots of the houses, one can admire, are real “heroes” which survived the earthquakes and storms. From place to place imposing new buildings come to life each year.

As one may see in every capital, crowded streets and noise are not shy to show up. In this case, there is always a spot one can run off all these: the parks –true oases of peace and beauty.

Words are not enough to describe the exact feelings one has when actually visiting Bucharest.

Romania Presentation Movie

"Surfing" on YouTube I have found some very nice movies about Romania. This is the first one and the others are coming soon.

The movie is very suggestive. It presents so many symbols in only one minute:

• A violin - The Composer George Enescu
• A cathedral and Moldavian monasteries - Orthodox Religion
• Old part of Bucharest - "The Little Paris"
• An old plane - Traian Vuia
• Beautiful girls... :D
• The Danube Delta with fishermen and traditional clothes
• The Black Sea
• Bucegi Mountains - The Sfinx
• A gymnast - Olympic Champion Nadia Comaneci
• The Dracula's Castle.

A New Header Image (from Apuseni Mountains)

I have added a new header image. It is a part of a picture shooted in Apuseni Mountains, somewhere between Runc and Costesti.

Brasov

The territory of Brasov County is superposed on two big morpho-structural units: the Carpathians and the Plateau of Transylvania. Few counties of Romania can boast such a harmonious combination of natural tourist potential with the cultural and historical values.

The City of Brasov has always been appreciated by all the people from Romania and other countries. The reason of this attitude may be the geographical position, the history of the buildings, the fresh air that surrounds you, the people and their behavior... It could be anything... Maybe it would be better to come and see for yourself why it is so well viewed.

If you need to know what totally melt me down in this county…..it was the variety of sports that you can do no matter the season and the possibility to stay overnight in best conditions and lowest price (motel brasov)...this in fact is a huge deal.

Cluj-Napoca

Cluj-Napoca is the biggest city in Transylvania Region. It is the most important cultural center in Romania with over 100.000 students for a population of 300.000. Here you can see the Austro-Hungarian influences everywhere: in the streets, in the buildings, in people. Cluj-Napoca has a growing industry. The most important is the IT Industry with over 150 companies.

Accomodation in Cluj-Napoca: The City has tens of hotels and villas with prices starting with 30 eur per night:

• Hotel Napoca
• Hotel Belvedere
• Hotel Stil
• Hotel Athos
• Vila Rimini
• Hotel Victoria
• Hotel Deja Vu
• Hotel Continental Cluj Napoca
• Best Western Topaz Hotel
• Capitolina Hotel
• Hotel Meteor
• Olimp Hotel
• Paradis Hotel
• Sunset Hotel

There are in Cluj-Napoca area some mountain resorts like Baisoara and Belis-Fantanele.

Cluj-Napoca presentation movie (shooted from the helicopter):

Arieseni, Apuseni Mountains

Arieseni Resort is located in Apuseni Mountains in Transylvania Region. It is a new resort and it is growing and growing each year. At this moment is has only one ski slope but there are some more slopes in project. If you are planning a trip to Apuseni you can find accomodation at some villas like Vila Vank Arieseni or Cabana Verde Muntii Apuseni and if you are affraid that you have to much spear time you can ask Apuseni Adventure Team to organize an expedition with 4X4 vehicles in the mountain.

If you would like to see more about Arieseni and Apuseni Mountains I invite you to visit the Apuseni Photo Page.

Baisoara, Cluj Area

Baisoara is a small ski resort in Cluj Country, not far from the city of Cluj-Napoca (50 km). There is a hotel and many cabanas like Villa Baisoara. The ski slope is not that long (1 km) but is good enaugh fot the people that live in Cluj Napoca and don't have enaugh time to go to Poiana Brasov, Borsa or Mogosa.
